On August 31, 2015 Google announced that one of the services that this process depends on has been deprecated, and will be discontinued on September 1, 2016.  The process described here is now a short-term solution.

One-time set-up in Blogger

  • create a new blog or go to the blog you plan to use for podcasting
  • change some settings:
    • click on Settings in the left side-menu
      • click on Other 
        • set the option Enable Title Links and Enclosure Links? to Yes
        • click Save settings in the top right corner
      • click on Posts and comments
        • in the Post Template section, click Add
        • copy the text below and paste it into the Post template text box
        • click Save settings in the top right corner

  • change other settings as appropriate
  • if appropriate, add additional blog post authors
    • in the Settings menu, choose Basic
    • click on +Add authors
  • click on the View blog button at the top of the page to see the blog page
  • publish the URL for the Posts (Atom) RSS feed as the link to use to subscribe to the blog/podcast
